This remind when I almost got my military career destroyed over bitters. My leadership came to me and said alcohol was found in your room. I was confused and scared because I was not 21, and ask what they found because I genuinely had no idea what they were talking about. Then my CPT shows me the bottle of bitters they found in my room and I was like ummmmmmmm. With all due respect ma’am you do not have to be 21 to purchase bitters, nothing is illegal regarding my having bitters. She goes well there’s alcohol in here and your not 21, I’m like well ma’am isn’t there alcohol in hand sanitizer, mouth wash, and toothpaste? She tells me that’s different, but then I told her I use bitters to cook, no one gets drunk of bitters. Just like no one gets drunk off mouth wash. Needless to say this ended up getting pushed extremely higher up the chain beofre it was dropped.
Edit: To address some comments.
1) Yes bitters can be added to countless recipes, google has plenty examples.
2) I’m aware you CAN get drunk off mouthwash. What I was implying is “people don’t” in the sense that it’s not a common thing lol.
3) This happened during what’s called a Health and Wellness Check. To summarize, this is when your first line calls you in the early morning usually around 3am. They tell you health and wellness at 4am, formation outside the barracks 330am. Then your unit leadership splits into groups of 2 or 3 and inspects each Soldiers room, and you have to remain outside your door. They claim to be inspecting your room for safety. In reality they are trying to catch you off guard to figure out who keeps a dirty room or has substances they’re not suppose to. For those of you who don’t know, getting caught with alcohol underaged, or marijuana, pills, etc, is pretty much a career ender.

1. Американцы не знают про одеколоны питьевых сортов?
2. Прикольная система, конечно, когда тебе уже дали в руки автомат и отправили в другую страну убиватьлюдей врагов демократии, но при этом следят, чтобы ты не набухался от успехов данного мероприятия.
